The press conference addressed US government influence on the e-G8’s discussion of IP issues, digital rights, and openness on the Internet. Most of the plenary speakers addressed issues from a purely corproate standpoint with short shrift given to creator’s rights and principles of network neutrality.
A joint statement in support of Internet freedom, digital rights, free software and open communication was issued by more than 40 groups, including Media Alliance, sponsored by the Association for Progressive Communicators (www.apc.org).
