An American Community survey using 2015 data provided a list of the 185 cities in the United States with the worst household broadband connectivity. The data was released by NDIA.

This June Field Poll by CETF updates digital divide statistics in California. Specific demographic markers exist for lack of Internet usage and they are:
* Non-citizen status
* Lack of English fluency
* Disability
* Poverty
A series of studies by John Dunbar and Jacob Fenton at the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University on the links between poverty, rural life and lack of broadband access.
A study by the Pew Internet Center documents the enormous number of US adults who gain much or all of their Internet access via smart phones. This suggests that trends towards the imposition of data caps will hit the smart-phone dependent population especially hard.
